(Virtual). This course explores infectious diseases, microbial structure and function, and the normal flora and common pathogens of the human body. The etiology, epidemiology, prevention and control of communicable diseases are also covered. The class will explore the basic functions of the immune system with emphasis on its role in the protection against microbial infections and tumors, immune deficiency states, autoimmunity and psychoneuroimmunology.
