CS 621 - Gastroenterology & Protology Credit(s): 4
The gastroenterology and proctology course will begin with a brief overview of structure,
function, anatomy, physiology, and wellness. The bulk of the course will be devoted to
understanding pathology, disease diagnosis/assessment/differential diagnosis, and
management of common gastroenterology and proctology conditions. Emphasis will be
placed on a whole-systems approach and the application of naturopathic philosophy to
patient care. Supplementary topics such as cultural competency, ethics, evidenceinformed practice, inter-professional practice, jurisprudence, and practitioner cultivation
will be integrated throughout each course.
