AC 658E - Five Element Acupuncture Credit(s): 3
This class is intended to give the student a thorough introduction to the table of correspondences associated with the Five Elements/Wu Xing. We will explore the colors, sounds, odors, and emotions used diagnostically. As well as the natures of each phase described more philosophically, through the tones and numbers, the virtues and imbalances; in terms of locatable occurrences in the body, nature and society.
We will practice needling specific points to encourage deeper understanding of the combinations of elements and choosing points from a constitutional perspective. Finally an understanding of how the elements can be used to engage more deeply in the clinical interview will be demonstrated and encouraged in practice. Direct moxibustion will be practiced in class. Prerequisite(s): CM506, OAC613
