This elective course is intended to provide students a robust introduction to the history, science, ethics, and practice of the diverse field of psychedelic medicine. Students will be introduced to the rich global history of diverse cultures that have maintained psychedelic and entheogenic traditions for centuries. They will learn the pharmacology and neuroscience that potentiate these powerful experiences and inform theories of consciousness. Ethical issues surrounding these substances including equity, access, and regulation, will also be explored.
